This page explains what information My Korean Fate collects, how it is used, who it is shared with, and what choices you have under Brazil's LGPD (Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados). We have written it in plain language rather than legal form, but it reflects what actually happens in our systems.
Who Controls Your Data
My Korean Fate is operated by Lívia Leão, as an individual (there is no separate registered company behind this site). For any privacy question or request, contact mykoreanfate@outlook.com. Given the current scale of our data processing, a formally designated privacy officer (DPO/encarregado) is not required under LGPD — this contact email serves that role. We will revisit this if our data processing grows enough to require one.
What Information We Collect
My Korean Fate collects information in three situations: when you use the free Saju calculator, when you subscribe through an article or the calculator to receive follow-up emails, and when you purchase a Full Reading, Love Compatibility, or Money & Career reading.
Free calculator (one-time use): birth date, birth time, and gender, used only to generate your chart on the spot. This is not saved to our database.
Email subscription (calculator or article opt-in): your email address, and if applicable the Day Master result from the calculator, are stored in our database. We use this to send a short series of follow-up emails about Saju and our paid reading. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any of these emails, or by emailing us.
Paid readings: your birth details and email address are stored so we can generate and deliver your reading and provide support if something goes wrong with delivery. Payment (card details) is handled entirely by Stripe and is never seen or stored by My Korean Fate.
Cookies and Analytics
We use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use this site (pages visited, general navigation patterns). These are not loaded automatically — they only run after you accept the cookie banner shown on your first visit. If you reject or ignore the banner, these tools do not load and no analytics cookies are set.
Separately, if you arrive through a referral link (a link containing ?ref=), your browser stores a small reference code in local storage to attribute your visit to that referral source. This is functional, not an advertising cookie, stays on your device rather than our servers, and you can clear it through your browser settings at any time.
Legal Basis for Processing
We process your birth details and email to deliver a reading you purchased under the legal basis of contract execution (LGPD art. 7, V). We process your email for follow-up marketing emails, and we load analytics cookies, under the legal basis of your consent (LGPD art. 7, I) — which you give by subscribing, and by accepting the cookie banner, respectively. You may withdraw consent at any time (unsubscribe link, or rejecting/clearing cookies).
How Long We Keep Your Information
Subscriber emails are kept until you unsubscribe or request deletion. Purchase records are kept for 5 years, counted from the first day of the fiscal year following the transaction. This period comes from Brazil's National Tax Code (Código Tributário Nacional, arts. 173 and 174), which sets a 5-year window for tax authorities to review transactions — the LGPD (art. 16, II) explicitly allows keeping data for as long as needed to comply with a legal or regulatory obligation like this one. After that period, if you have also requested deletion and no other retention obligation applies, we will delete your data within a reasonable time.
Third-Party Services We Use
We share the minimum data necessary with the following service providers, each governed by their own privacy policy:
- Stripe — payment processing. Handles your card details directly; we never see or store them.
- Supabase — database hosting for subscriber and purchase records.
- Resend — sending transactional and follow-up emails.
- Netlify — website hosting and serverless functions.
- Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity — site usage analytics, only after cookie consent.
- Google Fonts — loads fonts from Google's servers, which may log basic technical request data.
International Data Transfers
Supabase (our database) is hosted on servers located in Brazil, so subscriber and purchase records are not transferred abroad through that provider. Resend (our email delivery provider) operates from the United States, so the content of the emails we send you (including your email address) is processed there. This transfer is covered by Resend's Data Processing Addendum, which incorporates Standard Contractual Clauses, and by Resend's certification under the EU-US and Swiss-US Data Privacy Framework — safeguards recognized under LGPD art. 33, II, 'b'. Other providers (Stripe, Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, Google Fonts) may also process data outside Brazil under their own compliance safeguards.
What We Do Not Do
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it to build an advertising profile of you. We only use it for the purposes described on this page.
Your Rights Under LGPD
Under Brazil's LGPD, you have the right to:
- Confirm whether we process your data, and access it
- Correct incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated data
- Request anonymization, blocking, or deletion of unnecessary or excessive data
- Request portability of your data to another provider
- Be informed about who we share your data with
- Withdraw consent at any time, and be informed of the consequences
- Request review of decisions made solely by automated processing
How to Exercise Your Rights
Email mykoreanfate@outlook.com with your request. We will respond within 5 business days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may also contact Brazil's national data protection authority (ANPD).
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as our practices change. We will update the date at the top of this page when we do.
